NWC Rehires Laid-off
Employees
FOR RELEASE: January 16th,

VICTORIA: The National Widget Company is announcing a
restructuring today that will result in the rehiring of 200 previously laid-off
employees, 50 of which from Victoria.
The National Widget Company,
Canada’s oldest widget manufacturer, announced the laying off of 200 employees
late last year after the actions of a competitor had begun to drive the company
out of the widget market. However, due to a dramatic increase in widget sales,
the company hopes to reach out to and rehire all of the previously laid off
employees within the next six weeks.
This increase in widget sales stems from
many sources. Previously, the widget was primarily used in the oil business,
however recent discoveries have led to the installation of the widget into
residential construction. This new avenue of sales has also led to a deal with
the Chinese government. The National Widget Company has made an exclusive
arrangement with the Chinese and will be supplying the widgets that will be
used in each new building built in China. The president of the National Widget
Company, Andrew Bryce called the deal an “opportunity and a secure market on
which to expand our capacity.”
Bryce is optimistic that their
company will continue to succeed in the wake of these new opportunities, saying
“We think this opportunity opens up enormous markets which will last for
years.”
